Data Services Technician

The Data Services Technician works with the complete lifecycle of client data through Suran’s solutions and assists with general operations and IT infrastructure.
The position focuses both on data manipulation and ticket-driven operational work as well as data analysis and reporting. Training on all aspects of the job will be provided, but familiarity with data manipulation tools, basic SQL, and computer systems is required.
This role requires client interaction and the ability to build knowledge of how our applications are used and how they store data. This role requires close attention to detail and prioritizes accuracy and protecting data privacy and security.
This is a full-time salaried position with full benefits. Applicants will work remotely and will be provided equipment. Minimal travel is required for staff meetings and conferences (expected twice per year). This position is budgeted around $50,000 annual compensation, but is negotiable based on experience.

Primary Responsibilities
- Working with client databases and accounts (setup, boarding, transferring, cancelling, updating etc.) using established tools
- Data manipulation and reporting through various tools
- Developing new tools to manipulate data and client accounts
- Assisting operations staff with the configuration and management of existing tools and systems
- Maintaining and expanding internal documentation of these processes
Required Skills
- Task organization
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Time management with a focus on efficiency
- Customer interaction, both verbal and written
- Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification when needed
- Basic understanding of relationship databases
- Ability to research and learn new tools, processes, and technologies
- Ability to learn existing databases and how our applications affect them
- Basic familiarity with SQL
- Intermediate use of spreadsheet and text editor software
- Basic understanding of computer systems, including remote access and file transfer
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements
Helpful Experience
- Scripting (e.g. shell)
- Command line work
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL tools (i.e. psql, pg_dump, etc.)
- Regular expressions
- Jira configuration/administration
- Light systems administration of Linux/macOS/Windows
- Administrative/clerical work in any type organization (charitable, member-oriented, and/or accounting/payroll-driven is even better!)
